Solar Tackle Contour Unleaded Leader Material

Despite having my reservations when I first started messing about with Unleaded, it’s now a permanent fixture in my tackle box.
It’s incredibly soft and supple and, with a slack line, genuinely follows the contours of the lake bed better than any other leader material that I’ve used. It sinks well, better than the heaviest fluorocarbon, but not quite as quickly as leadcore, and splices easily too; you need a proper splicing needle for the 25lb but I managed to splice the 40lb with a thin gate-latch baiting needle. The only downside, albeit small, is that the black version has an almost metallic sheen in shallow, clear water, but that soon wears off. It’s tough, reliable and a great way around leadcore bans.
