Massive specimen rocks world record after its capture from famous French venue.
One of the biggest common carp ever landed in the world, has been caught from France’s famous Rainbow Lake.
Weighing in at a hefty 86lb 8oz, the massive specimen was caught by Fox product development director Shaun McSpadden during a two-week trip to the world famous venue that saw no less than five fish over 60lb caught by the angler and his fishing partner, Fox brand manager Scott Day.
Shaun's massive fish - just a couple of pounds shy of the world record - fell for a Mainline MK1 18mm bottom bait and 15mm pop-up combo presented at 30yards range over an underwater hump, the fish hoovering up the hook-laden offering 24hours after it was cast to the spot.
Playing the fish from a boat, Shaun beat his prize using a Fox Horizon XT rod combined with a Fox 12000XT reel loaded with Horizon 50lb braid. On the business end, a 45lb Fox Armadillo hooklink to a size 4 Arma Point XSC hook more than proved up for the job.
The world record common carp stands at 88lb 7oz and was caught by German angler Markus Pelzer in 2010.
