Historic fish is biggest ever landed in the Emerald Isle.
Carp fishing history has been made with the capture of the first ever 40lb Irish carp.
The fish, a specimen of 40lb 2oz, was landed from Maynooth Fishery, a club water in County Kildare, by angler Andrew Doyle during a three day session.
“I’ve fished Maynooth for the past seven years and only ever done weekends before,” Andrew told Advanced Carp Fishing. “This trip though I fished on until Monday morning and all I can say is that it was the best Monday morning I’ve ever had after landing this amazing carp.”
Fishing the 4acre lake, which had previously produced carp to 35lb 10oz, Andrew presented a Mainline boilie with freebies in a small PVA bag over a bed of corn and hemp to tempt the historic fish.
“Anyone in Ireland that fishes for carp is over the moon,” added Andrew, “History has been made, and I’m very happy to have been the one that made it. My phone still hasn’t stopped ringing.”
