Warning to carpers as recent subzero temperatures claim life.
Anglers have received a stark warning about the dangers of fishing in subzero condition after the death of a man who froze to death while fishing on the river Medway.
The angler, Martin Hoskins, was fishing an overnight session on the Kent waterway when temperatures plummeted to -12degrees Celsius. Following the cold night a friend of Mr Hoskin’s went to check on him at around 9.30am finding the man, who was a car valeter from Chatham Kent and in his forties, dead in his bivvy.
Police were called to the scene but are not treating the death as suspicious.
Anglers attempting to fish in severely cold conditions are reminded to take the correct equipment and clothing and wherever possible fish with a friend.
