Fishery offering uncaught 20s from nature reserve due to open in new year.
Great news for carpers in East Anglia, with the announcement that a brand new fishery is set to open in Norfolk.
Located near Thetford, Oxborough Lake is due to open next April, offering a 7acre carp lake boasting high quality fish stocks – as the man behind the project, Quiet Sport Fishery Management’s Steve Barnes explains.
“The new water will be stocked with fish taken from a lake in Hampshire which Quiet Sport has been netting throughout the year for English Nature,” Steve told Advanced Carp Fishing.
“The water is a nature reserve near Bournemouth known as Mockbeggar Lake and already we’ve removed around 5tons of pristine carp which have never seen an angler before in their lives.
"The majority of the fish which will be going into the new lake will be between 10 and 18lb, but there will also be a number of 20s and possibly bigger.
“It will be a ‘runs water’ and the carp caught will be in stunning condition, we have 20pounders with their curtains still in tact so they have never seen a hook before.”
Having been dug and landscaped over the last 7monthes, the new fishery is now half filled with water and ready for fish to be introduced over the next few weeks.
On its opening next year, day tickets for the venue will be just £7, with fishing limited to just days only.
“The fish will not be nocturnal when we open so there is no need for night fishing,” Added Steve. “ However we will review the situation as time goes on.”
More details on the new venue will be posted on the Quiet Sports website nearer to April, so keep checking back to find out more
