Lancashire venue's biggest resident is banked at new best weight.
The biggest resident at Lankashire’s Wyreside Fishery has been landed at a new venue record weight.
The big mirror known as Paw Print was caught by day ticket angler Ben Poole at a weight of 42lb 1oz, breaking the previous best set by the same fish by nearly 2lb.
The fish was first introduced into the fishery’s Wyre lake in the early 1980s at 19lb and is an impressive catch at its new heaviest weight.
Stockport angler Ben fooled the fish using a snowman set up with a 20mm Nash Monster Squid hookbait and 12mm pop-up on a size 8 Nash Fang Twister hook fished at around 90yards range. The all-important bite came at 2.30 in the afternoon during the 25-year-old’s 24hour session on the lake
Paw Print's previous record weight was held by angler Mark Bodell when he caught the carp in June 2007 at 40lbs 4oz.
