Britain’s best-loved carp school is back.

The Korda Carp Academy takes place on August 24th, 25th and 26th at an unconfirmed venue. If you’re between 11 and 18 and want to learn more about carping then you’d better get your application off. Free Nash and Korda DVDs

Tackle powerhouses Korda and Nash have released free DVDs this month.

Both films offer the carper a lot more than simply a catalogue on disk. The Korda release holds more than four hours of action, tips and tactics, which includes a UK forty and a French seventy. The film features Danny Fairbrass, Ali Hamidi, Adam Penning and Tom Dove.

Shoulders � A Tribute

Following the sad death of the much-loved Shoulders, ACF spoke to Horton head bailiff Del Smith to get his thoughts on the passing of a fish he was so close to.

This is what he told us: “Shoulders was a well-loved part of the Church Lake. One of the old Yeoveney fish, he was between 45 and 50 years old. He reached a top weight of 45lb 13oz and was one of the much sought-after target fish for the anglers that came to fish the Church Lake. He was one of the venue’s real characters. A bit of a loner, he could usually be found on a hot summer’s day doing circuits of the lake. A fish of that calibre and history will be a great loss. However, some of his old mates are still growing well. With fish such as No-Name now close to, or breaking, the 40lb barrier, the future is bright at Horton.”

New Carp Brand Launches

There’s a new player in the carp market. Avid, the brainchild of tackle magnate David Preston, is set to launch very soon.

Although he’s best known for match fishing brand Preston Innovations, David is actually a carp angler with more than 20 years’ experience. The launch has been whispered about for a little while, so we’re sure that there are plenty of carpers out there waiting to see just what the new brand will produce.

In an interview with our sister magazine, Total Carp, David told Marc Coulson: “It’s going to be top-end tackle aimed at the angler who takes his carp fishing very seriously and is not willing to compromise on the quality of gear that he uses.

“Innovation is hard-wired into my genes and, now, I have a team of creative, driven carp anglers given the freedom to make whatever they believe will improve how we fish.”

Keep your eye on ACF over the next few months because the new gear is sure to be revealed here very soon.
