I’m not an angler who takes the proverbial kitchen sink with me. As such, I don’t need luggage with huge capacity, so my Aqua Carryall fits the bill perfectly. It’s a really solid piece of luggage that I’ve been using for over a year and its performance leaves me in no doubt that I’ll get many years good service from it. An array of well-placed pockets mean that there’s a surprising amount of storage capacity in what is a modest-sized bag. These pockets haven’t merely been thrown onto the bag without regard for usability – they’ve been placed to allow efficient storage and ease of access during a session. The outside pockets take all the stuff that I’m constantly reaching for while on the bank, such as my headtorch, catapult, forceps and PVA-mesh loaders.
The inner of the carryall is packed with storage options. There’s a rectangular pocket designed to take a tackle box, as well as a range of pouches that house any number of bits and pieces. One feature that you’ll notice straightaway is the waterproof Nyplex lining that Aqua has used to protect the inside and base of the bag. This waterproofing should ensure that the base of the bag won’t rot after being placed on wet ground over the course of a season or two. The inner lining prevents damage from any spillages.
The size of the bag is what appeals to me most. It’s just about right for a weekend session and will certainly cover you admirably for overnighters. That said, you can also work out of the bag on day sessions and it’s not out of place when roving. A well-padded shoulder strap and neoprene handles make the carryall comfortable to carry. For longer sessions, you might want to couple the bag with cool bags for food and leave some spare clothing in the car.
